3 Acupressure Points to Calm Holiday Anxiety and Experience More Joy

The holiday season is in full swing, and this weekend marks the official start of winter. As we marvel at how quickly we’ve arrived at the end of 2025, we can’t help but notice the contrast between holiday anxiety culture and the true energetics of winter: slow, still, replenishing, and introspective.

If you’re someone who’s caught the holiday anxiety bug, we’d love to share a simple but effective acupressure tool that you can use on the go and that can help you access some calm during this time of year.

It’s called the Buddha’s Triangle.

The “Buddha’s Triangle” is a set of 3 acupressure points, that when massaged gently, can help alleviate anxiety, stress and emotional imbalances. Good news is that this self-care treatment can be easily incorporated into your busy schedule.

Let’s go over the points, where they are and what each of them does.

Point 1: Pericardium 6 (PC 6) – Neiguan

  • Location: On the inner arm, approximately three finger widths below the wrist crease, between the tendons.
  • Function: Calms the heart, reduces tightness in chest and racing thoughts

Point 2: Heart 7 (HT 7) – Shenmen

  • Location: On the inner wrist crease, directly below the pinky finger.
  • Function: Grounds mental agitation, improves emotional rest, and promotes a sense of calm and well-being.

Point 3: Lung 9 (LU 9) – Taiyuan

  • Location: On the inner wrist, on the thumb side, in a small hollow just below the wrist crease.
  • Function: Harmonizes breathing, softens grief, and restores emotional openness, helping to alleviate feelings of sadness, depression, and emotional constriction.

Gently press or massage the points using your fingertips, thumb or a soft object for 30 seconds to 2 minutes until you feel a release of emotional tension.

You can:

  • Focus on one point
  • Massage all three in one session

This is a great tool to use when you need a quick moment of zen. But, we also recommend incorporating it into your regular self-care routine. Ideal times might be during meditation or before bedtime.

Pro Tip: Tape or band-aide 1 popcorn kernel on each point for ongoing “hands-off” anxiety relief while you’re running around shopping or wrapping gifts… we swear it works!

We hope this feels like a small exhale for you. It’s amazing how gentle rituals like this can help the nervous system reset. When you access the calm, the joy will naturally arise.

Wishing you much enjoyment this holiday season.
