Stressed? Overwhelmed?

All too often, the answer is “yes.” Stress is unavoidable in certain life situations, which is why it is imperative to find ways to deal with it. When stress is not managed, it builds, spirals out of control, and can affect the body in various ways. Stress can manifest as such things as depression, back pain, migraines, colds, digestive upset, infertility, or painful periods. The list goes on and on. Why is this? Chinese medicine explains that when the mind is not in harmony neither is the body. Stress is often the root of the imbalance.
At Five Seasons Healing, we first aim to help individuals identify stressors and recognize how stressors affect them mentally and physically. Next, we guide the patients so that they find a way to effectively manage stress. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are used to free up blockage of qi that occur when the body is tense and unable to relax and to harmonize imbalances within a person. But, that is just one integral aspect addressed in our holistic approach. Diet, lifestyle choices, exercise, mediation, and qi gong are usually discussed so that patients can begin to safely explore how to create a mind frame and environment that offers a clearer, more peaceful state of mind.
